Visual Studio 2003 Default Project Folder

When you create a Visual Studio 2003 project, the new files must be saved, so a default location is presented. If you do not wish to store the files in the standard location, and have a preferred folder, this can be made to be the default option.

Visual Studio Configuration

The default project folder setting is configured using the Visual Studio 2003 options menu. To view the options dialog box, open the Tools menu and select Options from the list.

Environment Options

Once the options dialog box is visible, select the Projects and Solutions option from within the Environment group of the tree structure at the left side of the window. The dialog box will appear similar to the image below.

You can now enter the path to the folder that you wish to use as the default location for all new projects using the Visual Studio projects location text box. If you are unsure of the exact path, you can also click the Browse button and select the path visually.

Once the path has been specified, click the OK button. All new projects will now use the named folder by default. However, this can still be overridden manually for each project as required.
